Partners
IHCA maintains several partnerships with other associations and programs in order to offer our member centers access to goods and services that will assist them in their day-to-day operations. See below for more information on IHCA/ICAL's partners in care.
Several of these partnerships were cultivated through our membership with the American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL). As an IHCA/ICAL member, your organization and its employees have the opportunity to take advantage of exclusive offers and discounts from leading national companies providing quality products and services. Gero Nurse Prep
Gero Nurse Prep was created with long term care nurses in mind. It is a nationally accredited, web-based continuing education program that not only provides RNs with the latest clinical knowledge, skills and competencies needed to care for the elderly, but it helps prepare them to successfully complete the ANCC Certification Exam in Gerontological Nursing as well.
Research has shown that there has been a significant improvement in empowerment, knowledge, competence, collaboration, satisfaction and intent to remain for those nurses who become ANCC certified. Additionally, Analyses conducted by the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL) show that skilled nursing centers with RNs who have been certified in gerontological nursing by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) are twice as likely to have a 5-star rating from CMS and Gero Nurse Prep is the first step toward achieving that certification.

The Infection Preventionist Specialized Training (IPCO) course provides specialized training for healthcare professionals who seek to serve as Infection Preventionists. Through this course, individuals will be specially trained to effectively implement and manage an Infection Prevention and Control Program at their nursing center.
IHCA and AHCA are committed to ensuring nursing centers are fully prepared to meet the rigors of the new RoP requirements. This course is an online, self-study program with 23 hours of training. It includes online lectures, case studies and interactive components taught by an array of experts from around the country. National Association of Health Care Assistants
The National Association of Health Care Assistants (NAHCA) works with direct care assistants in order to elevate the professional standing and performance of caregivers through recognition, advocacy, education and empowerment while building a strong alliance with health care providers to maximize success and quality patient care.
Nursing Assistants provide over 90% of the direct patient care and make up the largest group of employees working in health care facilities today. Through membership in their association, NAHCA offers nursing assistants and other direct care workers support and educational opportunities to further their careers.
In 2016, NAHCA partnered with IHCA. The collaborative partnership between the two non-profit associations will allow NAHCA to work closely with Illinois providers of long term care to recognize the valuable humanitarian service of CNAs and other direct caregivers and promote quality care in long term care centers. NAHCA has bridged the gap between caregivers and centers, promoting recognition, education and motivation for its members.
